About The Perpetual Shift
Short philosophy for ordinary days
The Perpetual Shift is an independent short-form video channel. Every morning it publishes one video, under a minute long, that takes an idea from Stoicism, Existentialism, or Taoism and applies it to a specific, everyday moment.
Why it exists
Most philosophy content is either a lecture or a motivational poster. We wanted something in between: the actual words of Epictetus, Camus, or Lao Tzu, placed next to the kind of situation where they help, such as a bad meeting, a stalled plan, or a decision you can't take back.
How episodes are made
The channel is run by one person with a small production pipeline. Scripts are drafted with AI assistance from a chosen primary-source passage, then narrated, captioned, and rendered as vertical video. The pipeline checks each script for claims it can't verify and for quotes that are paraphrased rather than verbatim, and flags those episodes for review.
Where we publish
Episodes go out to our own accounts only:
We use each platform's official developer API, including TikTok's Content Posting API, solely to upload videos we produced to these accounts. We don't use that access to read, collect, or repost anyone else's content or data.
Standards
- Every episode is anchored to a named source and thinker.
- Paraphrases are presented as paraphrases, not as direct quotes.
- Corrections are welcome. If we got something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
